I’ll be honest. I’m a little biased for this track, mainly because I’ve thought that K-pop needs to keep pushing into genres where they could have a bit more representation.
Except for the most dedicated, many of us are getting a little weary of the heavily treaded hip-hop/rap genres in K-pop. It’s good, don’t get me wrong, and it more than pays their bills, but K-pop could stand to branch out a bit more into pop, like SHAUN has done here.
Yes, there are a bajillion pop acts out of Korea, but we need more of them to rise to the top.
To this track! First it’s got a driving four on the floor beat which immediately gets your head bobbing and your foot tapping.
The guitar melody in the opening is an immediate classic. The guitar tone is so pretty, and the melody just hooks you immediately. This chorus is also just gorgeous. Amazingly buttery vocals in the chorus, it’s all so smooth. Wow.
Hopefully we see this track do well in all the metrics that matter. We need more tracks like this.
