Yoon Ji-sung

Yoon Ji-sung, born on March 8, 1991 in Wonju, South Korea, is a singer and actor most popularly known as the former leader of project group Wanna One. He finished 8th on the second season of Mnet’s Produce 101, ending up as part of the eventual group that debuted on August 7, 2017. He actively promoted with Wanna One for 18 months before the group disbanded on December 31, 2018.

Following the end of his activities with the group, Ji-sung debuted as a solo artist under LMK Entertainment with the release of his debut extended play (EP), Aside, on February 20, 2019.

2017 to 2018: Produce 101 and Wanna One

Ji-sung, together with fellow trainees Kang Daniel, Kim Jae-han, Joo Jin-woo, and Choi Tae-woong, appeared in the second season of Produce 101 as representatives of MMO Entertainment. He finished the show in 8th place and was promoted as one of the final 11 members of Wanna One, the show’s project boy group set to promote for 18 months.

He was announced as the leader of the group for which he actively promoted until December 31, 2018. But it wasn’t until January 27, 2019 that he officially concluded his activities with the other ten members when they wrapped up their final concert series in Seoul.

While with Wanna One, Ji-sung was part of the sub-unit Lean on Me with fellow members Hwang Min-hyun and Ha Sung-woon. The trio sang the track “Forever and a Day,” which was produced by Nell, in the group’s album, Undivided.

2019 to present: Solo activities, acting debut, and military enlistment

In early January 2019, Ji-sung was announced to be making his debut as a musical actor with his appearance in the musical “The Days” based on the musical written by the late singer-songwriter Kim Kwang Seok. When ticket selling opened for the play dates he was scheduled to perform in, tickets sold out in a matter of minutes.

By the end of January, shortly after the conclusion of his activities with Wanna One, Ji-sung, along with fellow Wanna One member Kang Daniel, left MMO Entertainment and went on to sign with LM Entertainment on January 30, 2019.

On February 20, Ji-sung made his official debut as a solo artist with the release of his solo EP, Aside, featuring the track “In the Rain” as well as two other songs, “Clover” and “Who Are You?”

Following the release of his album, LM Entertainment announced that Ji-sung will be embarking on his first fan meeting tour of the same name in major Asian cities, including Seoul, Macau, Taipei, Tokyo, Osaka, and Bangkok.

On April 25, he released the special album, Dear Diary, and held special fan meetings in Tokyo, Osaka, and Seoul, before his upcoming military enlistment on May 14, 2019.
