BERRY GOOD is an all-female group formed by Asia Bridge Entertainment in 2014. The group originally consists of five members – Iera, Nayeon, Subin, Gowoon, and Taeha – and debuted with the single Love Letter in May 2014.
They are currently promoting as a group of six with members Gowoon, Taeha, Seoyul, Daye, Sehyung, and Johyun.
2014 to 2015: Official debut and line-up changes
Berry Good debuted on May 21, 2014, with the release of the music video for their song “Love Letter,” a remake of the song originally released by Click-B in 2000. The single was officially released the following day, the same day that the group began their promotions on Mnet’s M! Countdown.
In January 2015, Asia Bridge Entertainment announced that members Subin, Iera, and Nayeon have left the group to concentrate on their studies. At the same time, they introduced new member Seoyul, followed by the addition of Daye and Sehyung.
The group’s second single, Because of You, was released on February 9. Berry Good started their promotions for the single the following day with a performance on SBS MTV’s The Show.
In June of the same year, the group’s representative office launched various Berry Good merchandise such as accessories, clothes, and cosmetics, and sold them in China.
On September 23, Berry Good released their third single, My First Love, alongside two music videos, one of which features the actress Kim Bo-ra. “My First Love,” which was a posthumous work of composer Joo Tae-young, was performed live, prior to its release, on September 20 at the Hallyu Dream Concert.
2016 to 2017: Crowdfunding campaigns
On March 11, Berry Good launched a crowdfunding campaign to produce their first EP on Makestar (a similar approach done by girl group LABOUM in the past). Their goal of ₩10 million was reached in just ten days, and ultimately raised a total of ₩16,084,438 (160.8% of its original goal).
On April 20, the crowdfunded mini album, Very Berry, was released with the title track “Angel”.
The group’s release following Very Berry was also crowdfunded through Makestar. The project started on September 1 as a new single, but was later upgraded to a mini album, and raised a total of ₩26,896,790 or 268.97% of the initial ₩10-million goal.
Around the same time, the group announced the addition of sixth member, Johyun.
Berry Good showcased three out of the four songs from their EP on Arirang Radio’s K-poppin’ one day before the official release, including the lead single “Don’t Believe”.
On November 1, the group’s second mini album, Glory, was released.
On March 29, 2017, Berry Good launched a third crowdfunding project through Makestar in the hopes of financing their sixth digital single, “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo”. The song was eventually released on April 16, while the music video was uploaded to the group’s YouTube channel the day after.
As part of the group’s promotions for “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo,” they adopted a part-timer concept, doing various part-time jobs in between schedules and sending the proceeds to the needy.
On June 9, Berry Good performed at the Thống Nhất Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. In the same month, the group won the Rookie Star Award at the LBMA Star Awards for 2017.
2018 to present: First sub-unit and first full album
Berry Good members debuted their first sub-unit – Berry Good Heart Heart – on April 27 and is composed of members Taeha, Sehyung, and Gowoon. The trio released their first single “Crazy, Gone Crazy” on the same day.
On August 16, they made a full group comeback with the release of their first full album, Fee Travel, which they had started recording since August 2017. Berry Good held a showcase on the same day at the Ilji Art Hall in the Cheongdam-dong District of Seoul. Free Travel features the lead single, “Green Apple”.
Following the promotions of “Green Apple” in September, the group started promoting their second single “Mellow Mellow,” however, without member Sehyung due to a fractured ankle.
